The only down side to the cottages compared to other resorts is we did have to purchase toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, and several other small items that would normally been supplied by anyone else. The cable TV went out a few times which usually isn't a big deal when on vacation but at night when there is nothing else to do it isn't the greatest. There is not a staff always on site to fix problems e.g. while we were there the owners were out of state. Beds are not the best I've slept in but not the worst.
It was a great vacation just next time we will bring a few more items e.g. Pillows, Towels, dishwasher pods, etc...
It's definitely not a luxury accommodation All in all, it's a great medium ground for access to everything with a good price and quiet grounds. The owner is super helpful and that's a huge plus.
The keys cheese was deliciousth.
My wife and I went the week after thanksgiving 2012 and it was great! We were the only group there so we had the whole resort to ourselves which was a major plus for us. The water was a bit chilly for snorkeling but we did fish off the dock and caught several fish including a 3' nurse shark.
We have stayed at this property 5 times and are heading down for our 6th! We love the location, and the amenities! Is it 5 Star....No. Does it have everything you need for a fantastic week in paradise-absolutely! After years of staying in Key West, we found this location and haven't stayed in Old Town since. The water is amazing and four great restaurants close by. If you enjoy the water in the Keys, this is for you!
The drive to Key West was not bad only about 30min away which we drove almost daily to take in some sights and dinner. There were a few local diners local that were good too.
My family (4 boys) have been staying at this resort for the past 4 years and have had some of our best vacations here!! The cottages are awesome and they definitely have the "Florida Keys" feel to them. It is perfectly located (only about 15 minutes from Key West) due to its geographical area to Key West but it is isolated from the tourist community. It is gated with its own private beach and dock access. Every time we have gone we rent jet skis for the day and are able to ride them right up to the dock and resort so we can jet ski all day long from the resort. There are a couple of islands close enough to jet ski to where you can have lunch and just be lazy like an islander!! My boys have an absolute blast every year. The restaurants nearby are exceptionally good and the kitchens in the cottages are equipped with everything you need to cook meals when you like. The manager of the resort could not be nicer. He goes out of his way to ensure you have everything you need to make your trip memorable. He gives great recommendations for eats, activities, etc. This place is definitely 5 stars worth. Do yourself a favor and stay at this resort and you will realize this is the only way to do th eKeys.
Great spot tucked away from the bustle of Big Pine and Key West. While there's no beach access here there is a dock and it's a short drive to several beaches.
